A hot post on our Facebook feed this week involved 50 ideas for your summer bucket list. It included such items as “watch fireworks” and “play in the sprinkler” along with “do something bold” and “be spontaneous.” These are all great suggestions but here’s a thought: all year, I spend filling my time with appointments, must-dos, and timetables. Summer ought to be different, right? I want to propose a radical notion: crafting a summer “Not-to-Do” List.

Who’s in?

YOU? Fantastic.

Hold up your right hand and repeat after me:

  1. I will not eat indoors whenever it’s possible to eat outside.
  2. I will not order the kiddie cone or avoid sprinkles.
  3. I will not hesitate to invite friends over (who cares if the house is a mess!).
  4. I will not forget to have plenty of marshmallows, graham crackers, and chocolate bars on hand to make s’mores.
  5. I will not leave the fireworks (or concert or –) early to avoid traffic.
  6. I will not wear closed-toe shoes until September.
  7. I will not say “no” to outdoor tent creation — even in the front yard.
  8. I will not forget to take photos of all the places and friends we visit.
  9. I will not miss sunrise or sunset (especially because I’m working).
  10. I will not forget to say, “I love you” to the people who mean the most to me – after every conversation or time we part.

What would be on your summer “Not-to-Do” list that didn’t make mine?

And I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention we announced a FREE webinar being held Wednesday, June 29, at 7 pm. It’s called, “Your Photos: From Chaos to Calm.” Click here to learn more and register.
